STARTING SALARY: GRADE 7 – $11.45/hr./$23,836 annually or D.O.Q.

HOURS: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Six months or more experience in landscape construction or maintenance or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Position: Firefighter/Paramedic Application Deadline: March 24, 2019

The Maitland Fire Rescue Department will be conducting a hiring assessment for the position of Firefighter/ Paramedic/EMT.

You must be a State of Florida Certified Firefighter and Paramedic (or National Registry EMT-P) or EMT currently enrolled in an accredited Paramedic Program. EMT’s will have until January 1, 2020 to receive their State Paramedic License. You MUST attend the department assessment on Friday, March 29th, 2019, in order to be considered for employment. The Department will communicate with you via e-mail regarding other pertinent information.

STARTING SALARY: FF/PM – $49,490 annually (based on a 56-hour average work week) approx. $17.00/hr
A one-time Certification Compensation for FF/PM totaling $3,500 for those fully certified as a FF/PM at time of hiring.
FF/EMT – $40,703 annually (based on a 56-hour average work week) approx. $13.98/hr.

HOURS: Varying Shifts (56-hour average work week) 24 on/48 off

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
We are Internationally Accredited through CPSE and CAAS; we are an ISO Class-2 fire department established in 1926. Located in Central Florida, we are currently an all FF/PM Transport Department. We have two fire stations, 39 shift personnel and seven administrative personnel.

We serve 17,000 residents, and a business population of 35,000, across 6.2 square miles.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent as recognized by the State of Florida, Department of Education
• Possess & maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License
• Communicate effectively in English
• Must be Tobacco Free for one year prior to application

Required Certifications:
• State of Florida Firefighter II Certificate of Compliance
• State of Florida Paramedic License (by January 1, 2020)
• BLS & ACLS Certification

Preferred Certificates:
• EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) 16-hour certificate
• VMR Ops
• VMR Tech
• PALS
• CPR Instructor
• Associates Degree

Other requirements:
• Probationary Period – 1 Year
• Successfully complete orientation and probationary performance requirements as conducted by the Department
• Complete Paramedic Field Internship Training Program (FIT)
